A one word resolution

for today... jan 3, 2011

outside my window... an overcast sky but glad to see gorgeous palm trees again!!

i am thinking... how hard it was to wake up early today!!

i am thankful for... such a wonderful trip and being back home safely.

i am wearing... my favorite comfy navy pants and a white buddha t-shirt

i am going... to enjoy being home today.

i am currently reading... 'winter sea' by susana kearsley.

i am hoping... to scrap and catch up on my blogs!

on my mind... my new year's resolution.

pondering these words... 'you leave all habits behind by starting out with the thought, i release the need for this in my life' -w. dyer

from the kitchen... my favorite coffee and a couple of toast with raspberry jam.

around the house... piles of winter clothes waiting to be washed.

one of my favorite things... my dad's characteristics so evident in my son.

i'm creating...  this blog post.

a few plans for the rest of the week... scrap, grocery shopping, take down christmas tree, take winter coats to the cleaners, laundry and more laundry.

hi! hope you had a wonderful new year's celebration and a-not-to-hectic holiday season. hope that 2011 is to a great start for all of you. my ski vacation was fun and full of snow!!! the guys had a terrific time skiing and my sister in law and i got to do a bit of shopping, much relaxing and some catching up with golden globes nominated movies!

i don't know about you, but i have always like making new year's resolutions since i find they make me focus on things i really want to do and/or achieve and it is a way to mark the beginning of the year and the changes that it symbolizes.

talking about it over dinner some nights ago, i decided to pick only one word to guide me into action throughout the year, one word to inspire me in a bigger way, one word which resonates with me and keep me focus. but it had to be only one word - one to set the tone for the new year.

after giving it a bit of thought and pondering on some words that inspire me, i decided to pick: release.

this word might imply the release of fear, control, stress, clutter, doubts, worries, judgment about my own self, toxic relationships, bad habits....etc.

having this more broader word will allow me the opportunity to release and let go on a more extensive way and not so limited as if, for example,  i would have chosen the resolution to only release stress.
one big word I can carry with me all year long and which has the power to relate to different areas of my life.

i am thinking... would love to go to the movie theater.

i am thankful for... safe plane trips!

i am wearing... black jeans, black turtleneck, gray sweater, scarf and uggs.

i am remembering... so many nice phone calls from christmas day.

i am going... shopping & sightseeing today.

 i'm having a fabulous time, sightseeing, relaxing and probably eating a bit too much too! hope you had a wonderful christmas and are enjoying the holiday season.

Scrap therapy

people are always curious of my reasons for doing so many 'me' pages.

it was not alway like that - when i first started scrapbooking i covered mostly trips, birthdays, events and the like but as time went on i discovered that i loved scrapping more about my heart and soul, about my emotions and my life journey and about the every day little things. i am not big on writing so my layouts take the place of a journal. a visual journal that is.

all the 'all about me' layouts i create give me the opportunity explore feelings and get to know myself a little bit better. it's like putting my emotions on a page and turning them into art! i think it's a great way  to combine a passion and creative outlet with some therapy, don't you think?

October is here...

is it me or did it just seem like september was starting?
well, i am still hoping for some fall-like days to make an appearance here in south florida sometime soon.
but no matter what, october is here and thoughts of sweaters, pumpkins and candy are in the air.
... and of course halloween!

...i've been working together with this talented designer/friend on a very special halloween collab. freebie... i'll come back with more info about it in a few days though...

during this new month, i also have other celebrations here at home. gustavo and i have our 17th wedding anniversary, my mom's and one of my best friend's birthdays are also coming up. so i though i'll leave you for now with a birthday word art freebie.

hello everyone!
bet you did't think i was going to post while away, right? wrong!! and it's not even monday either!

yes, i am still in the greek islands and while you are reading this, i am probably lying on a glorious beach,  soaking up the sun, enjoying a cold drink with the aqua-blue waters of the mediterranean as seaside companion! ... or maybe just following my husband on one of his extensive & thorough itineraries in order to soak up the atmosphere! lol!

anyway, whatever my day is over there.... i left this new freebie for you while i'm away!

Off across the pond i go...

... and all the way to athens and then the greek islands.  the day of my trip is here, all on the to-do list checked, my bags are packed and i am all ready to go.
i'll try checking my e-mail and this blog on daily basis even though it will depend on how available the internet service is at the different hotels. of course i am taking my ipad ( all my books are there!) and my iphone too.
