Cool photography retro-gadgets

FOR TODAY... march 01, 2010

outside my window... plenty of sunshine, a bit breezy & 56℉
i am thinking... it's all in the attitude...
i am thankful for... good friends.
I am wearing... jeans, navy sweater and boots.
i am remembering... take some pictures with mom!
I am going... to take more photos with my iphone apps.
i am currently reading... "the sweetness at the bottom of the pie"by allan bradley
i am hoping... i get to go to our girlfriend's getaway in september.
on my mind... make dentist appointment for gustavo.
noticing that... need to hang paintings in the living room & dining room.
pondering these words..."never obey anyone's command unless is coming from within you also" -osho-
from the kitchen... some dishes waiting to be put away.
around the house... the smell of fresh clean laundry.
one of my favorite things... fast speed internet connection.
i'm creating...  new freebies.
a few plans for the rest of the week... lunch with judith, look for coffee table for family room & shop for every-day glasses.
from my lens... me & my whippet neo. - photo taken with shake it photo app. for iphone.

go to the simple woman's daybook blog to participate in the "for today" journal every monday.

my 2 favorite toys of the moment:

2 really cool applications for iphone.  i'm super loving the shake it photo app. - once you snap the picture, the image slides down the screen like a polaroid photo (with the sound that we know and love) and then you shake the iphone in order to see it slowly develop. photos have that vintage feel, the 70's wash look & the typical white border.  it is .99 cents and certainly worth all the 99 pennies!!!

some photos using shake it photo app:

the hipstamatic app. is totally awesome!!!! based on a real plastic camera very popular in the early 80's. i love the effects that can be generated mixing and matching the lenses, films and flash accessories. but what i love the most is the unpredictable results you get since the view finder area is really small in relation to the iphone screen. the photos are quirky and fun just like the ones taken with the real toy plastic camera from back then. it costs $1.99 including some lenses, film types and flash effects. extra "hipstapacks" are .99 cents. the whole package will cost you a little under $5.00. hey! i think it is a fantastic little toy for the price & specially one which can keep you entertain for hours!

some examples using the hipstamatic app.

i love my fancy digital camera but there's something special about retro gadgets which simulate the old faded look and feel of the analog cameras of the 60's and 70's that i just adore & have a weakness for. best things of both apps. is that you can delete anything you don't like, share them right from your iphone & you can be sure the images will look the same 10 years from now!!!!
this is as close as i can get to real polaroid photos for now anyway... at least not until some polaroid film becomes available (hopefully) sometime this year....

Thanks for using & linking through to my papers ... now I understand the buzz you get from seeing something you've created being used by such talented friends!

Enjoy your time with your mum, hope lunch goes well (how about some flowers for Judith. tee-hee!) and have fun shopping for tables & glasses!!!
